Residents of the special economic zone (SEZ) “Technopolis Moscow” have allocated more than 29 billion rubles for research and development work (R&D). The bulk of the investments went to microelectronics manufacturers — their investments in new technologies reached 17.9 billion rubles. This was announced by Maxim Liksutov, Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Transport and Industry.
“The SEZ ‘Technopolis Moscow’ is the main platform for locating high‑tech industries in the capital. Its residents regularly invest in scientific developments that today determine our country’s technological leadership. Companies in the capital’s special economic zone create products and goods that are used throughout Russia. This strengthens the position of domestic industry and reduces dependence on imports. At the same time, it is crucial for us that the developments reach real‑world application — in urban infrastructure, transport, and the healthcare system,” noted Maxim Liksutov.
Thus, among the patented developments in the field of microelectronics is a photomask for manufacturing integrated circuit chips and memory modules with a frame configuration. Without such “stencils,” it is impossible to produce a chip, which is why this development is considered critically important for domestic electronics.
Another solution is a system computing board that receives power and transmits data via a single internet cable. Such devices are used in smart bus stops, information screens, payment terminals, and video surveillance systems, which simplifies the installation of urban infrastructure. Furthermore, in 2025, five new laser machines were registered in the SEZ.
The medical industry is also actively developing in the capital’s special economic zone. Residents’ investments in R&D exceeded 4.5 billion rubles. Over two years, one of the companies obtained registration certificates for 24 modern medicinal products. Another company patented Russia’s first automatic device for cardiopulmonary resuscitation and an updated set of equipment for emergency doctors.
The Technopolis Moscow SEZ is celebrating its 20th anniversary in 2026. Over the past two decades, it has transformed from a launchpad for innovative projects into a key hub for domestic industry and a centre for companies that define Russia’s technological sovereignty. Today, production of more than 240 high‑tech enterprises representing such strategic areas as microelectronics, instrument engineering, biomedicine, IT and robotics is located across 10 sites of the Technopolis Moscow SEZ, spread over 430 hectares.
The capital is creating the foundation for the country’s technological sovereignty. Thanks to urban solutions and support measures, residents of the Technopolis Moscow special economic zone are increasing the production of innovative products and expanding their presence in global markets. This contributes to the implementation of the national project “Efficient and Competitive Economy".
