Residents of the Technopolis Moscow SEZ will form a new foundation for the development of microelectronics in the country

The Russian Science Foundation has summed up the results of the competition for technological proposals in the field of microelectronics. The winners are five residents of the special economic zone (SEZ) “Technopolis Moscow”. Their 11 developments will form the basis of the domestic electronics industry: they will create new technologies, materials, equipment and design systems for the production of electronic components. This was announced by Maxim Liksutov, Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Transport and Industry.

“On the instructions of Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin, the city is paying special attention to the development of microelectronics.” This industry plays a leading role in ensuring the technological sovereignty of the country. An industrial cluster of more than 40 enterprises has been formed on the basis of the capital's SEZ. They produce microchips, optoelectronic devices, microelectronic components, artificial intelligence-based security systems, and biometric identifiers. New offers from residents will help to meet the current demands of the market and specific customers," Maxim Liksutov said.

The competition was held within the framework of the federal project "Personnel training and scientific foundation for the electronic industry". The list of selected proposals includes developments from several resident companies. For example, one of the projects concerns the creation of a filtration system for purifying the exhaust gases of the CVD process from chlorides and hydrocarbons. This equipment will address environmental issues and ensure the reliable operation of production facilities. Another development is an ultra‑sensitive water purity monitoring system — it is critically important for the production of modern Russian processors. Another resident company proposed a technology for the production of domestic microprocessors and next‑generation chips.

At the next stage, the Russian Science Foundation will hold open public competitions for performers to receive grants. The grant amount will range from 10 to 100 million rubles per year. The maximum duration for completing each project is up to three years.

Today, the products of residents of the capital’s special economic zone are regularly supplied to regions across Russia — from the Kaliningrad region to the Far East. Inspection equipment produced in the capital is used at airports, on railways, and at energy facilities across the country. Portable medical devices for emergency care are supplied to ambulance services and hospitals in more than 50 regions. Composite materials and structures are used in the construction and reconstruction of bridges, overpasses, and hydraulic structures in dozens of regions. And the digital educational equipment developed by a resident of the special economic zone helps schoolchildren and preschoolers learn natural sciences in 73 regions.

The Technopolis Moscow special economic zone will celebrate its 20th anniversary in 2026. Over the course of two decades, the project has transformed from a launchpad for innovative projects into a key hub for domestic industry and a magnet for companies that define Russia’s technological sovereignty. Today, production of more than 240 high‑tech enterprises representing strategic areas such as microelectronics, instrument engineering, biomedicine, IT, and robotics is localized across 10 sites of the Technopolis Moscow SEZ, with a total area of 430 hectares.Moscow is actively developing industrial infrastructure for high‑tech enterprises. Thanks to urban solutions, companies are increasing their production output and launching innovative production facilities. This contributes to the implementation of the national project “Efficient and Competitive Economy.”
