Prisms, Lenses, and Diffraction Gratings: Moscow SEZ Resident Develops a Kit for Studying Photonics and Optics

A laboratory kit for studying optical spectroscopy methods has been developed in the special economic zone (SEZ) “Technopolis Moscow.” With its help, university students will be able to develop research skills in the field of photonics and optics. This was announced by Maxim Liksutov, Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Transport and Industry.

“Special attention is paid to the training of engineering personnel and the promotion of modern industry in the Moscow SEZ. The site’s residents produce digital educational equipment, educational kits, interactive systems, and solutions for engineering and robotics classrooms.” The new laboratory set will allow students to assemble a device for studying the spectral composition of light sources on their own. With its help, students will consolidate their theoretical knowledge and acquire practical work skills,” said Maxim Liksutov.

The development belongs to the resident company of the Moscow SEZ “Lassard” and scientists from the Russian Technological University — MIREA. The workshop is intended for students studying in the fields of “Instrumentation Engineering”, “Laser Engineering and Laser Technologies”, and “Electronics and Nanoelectronics”. The set includes prisms, lenses, spherical mirrors, diffraction gratings, adjustable slits, screens, LED sources, and photodiode receivers, as well as instructional materials for students and teachers.

Using this equipment, students will be able to study the physical principles of light diffraction and dispersion, master the operating principles of spectrometers, and learn the methodology for measuring the transmission and absorption spectra of two‑dimensional semiconductors. All optomechanical products were developed and manufactured by a resident of the capital’s special economic zone, and the instructional materials were created by university faculty members.

Last year, the company developed the “Laser Class” solution. With its help, educational institutions train highly qualified CNC machine operators and welders. The resident’s products are available in the electronic online catalog of the SEZ “Technopolis Moscow”. The digital platform allows you to familiarize yourself with the product range and contact the manufacturer directly.

The Lassard company specializes in the production of laser equipment and optomechanical products. The products are supplied to all regions of Russia. It is in greatest demand in the Sverdlovsk Region, the Udmurt Republic, the Yaroslavl and Leningrad Regions, as well as in the Perm Territory.

The Technopolis Moscow Special Economic Zone will celebrate its 20th anniversary in 2026. Over two decades, the project has transformed from a launchpad for innovative projects into a key hub for domestic industry and a magnet for companies that define Russia’s technological sovereignty. Today, production of more than 240 high‑tech enterprises representing such strategic areas as microelectronics, instrument engineering, biomedicine, IT, and robotics is located across 10 sites of the Technopolis Moscow special economic zone, with a total area of 430 hectares.

The capital is developing sites for high‑tech businesses. Thanks to city‑level solutions, companies receive benefits and create modern jobs. This contributes to the development of the national “Cadres” project, which is aimed at training specialists and ensuring the country’s economy is supplied with qualified personnel.
