Human resources for industry: more than 900 students are completing internships at enterprises of the Technopolis Moscow special economic zone

The season of practical training has begun at the sites of the special economic zone (SEZ) “Technopolis Moscow”. More than 900 students from Moscow’s universities and colleges are already gaining experience at high‑tech enterprises. This was announced by Maxim Liksutov, Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Transport and Industry.

“On the instructions of Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin, the city continues to develop human resources for industry and train highly qualified specialists at advanced production facilities.” Since 2022, the “Techno‑Internship” project has been implemented in the capital’s special economic zone, and over 1,200 students from Moscow universities and colleges have taken part in it over the entire period. Currently, over 900 students are undergoing practical training at enterprises — this is 2.5 times more than in January–June 2025. “The project covers 65 companies operating in a wide range of fields: from the production of laser equipment and microelectronics to the manufacture of medicines, medical devices, lithium‑ion batteries, and immunobiological vaccines for animals,” said Maxim Liksutov.

The “Techno‑Internship” project gives students the opportunity to get acquainted with the real production process even before obtaining their diploma. For many participants, the internship becomes the first step towards employment at the same enterprises. Among the companies hosting students are manufacturers of high‑tech products that are interested in qualified personnel.

Educational institutions are also actively involved in this process. More than 20 agreements have been concluded between the SEZ “Technopolis Moscow” and the leading higher and secondary educational institutions in the capital to organize educational, industrial, and pre‑graduation internships. Among the key partners are Bauman Moscow State Technical University, Moscow Polytechnic University, Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology, Plekhanov Russian University of Economics, and others.

The special economic zone “Technopolis Moscow” is celebrating its 20th anniversary in 2026. Over the past two decades, the project has transformed from a launchpad for innovative projects into a key hub for domestic industry and a magnet for companies that define Russia’s technological sovereignty. Today, production of more than 240 high‑tech enterprises representing such strategic areas as microelectronics, instrument engineering, biomedicine, IT, and robotics is located across 10 SEZ sites with a total area of 430 hectares. The number of highly qualified jobs created is 33,000.

The capital is developing platforms for high-tech businesses. Thanks to urban solutions, companies receive benefits and create modern jobs. This contributes to the development of the national Cadres project, which aims to train specialists and provide the country's economy with qualified staff.
