Sobyanin: For the first time in Russia, serial production of LCD display modules has begun

Sergei Sobyanin took part in the opening of two high‑tech production facilities and also inspected two industrial buildings under construction at the Technopolis Moscow special economic zone (SEZ).“On the instructions of the President, we continue to ensure our country’s technological independence. Last year, about one million square metres of high‑tech production space was commissioned in Moscow. This year, it will be about two million square metres; dozens of new enterprises will be commissioned, including two enterprises that we are launching today,” the Mayor of Moscow said.

According to him, the facility will produce liquid crystal modules that have not been manufactured in the country before, as well as transceivers based on photonic integrated circuits.

“This is also a breakthrough, a breakthrough necessary to support data centers, the banking system, and the communication system,” Sergei Sobyanin noted.

The Moscow mayor also emphasized that the enterprises are unique for Russia and said that the city will continue to provide support to high‑tech industries. This includes, in particular, various benefits and assistance in selecting premises.

Vladimir Krikushenko, CEO of Nex‑T, noted that the launch of the new production facility will make it possible to supply enterprises in various industries, including the transport sector, with such essential components as screens. An agreement has already been signed with the Moskvich plant to manufacture devices for cars. Cooperation is also being carried out with enterprises from other regions, for example, St. Petersburg and Voronezh.“Moscow will be a supplier of such an essential component as a screen — both touch‑sensitive and non‑touch‑sensitive. We also supply finished products. We have several sites here,” he said.

Private investors invested about 7.2 billion rubles in the creation of two production facilities, and the Moscow Government provided the enterprises with the benefits stipulated for residents of the Technopolis Moscow SEZ. These include exemption from property and transport taxes for 10 years from the moment of obtaining resident status, as well as a reduced profit tax rate of 2 percent. Both enterprises have created nearly 400 jobs.
