Russia's first elevator cluster will be created in Russia.

Three projects for the planning of territories in different parts of Moscow have been approved. This was announced by Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin. "We will create Russia's first cluster of elevator construction and vertical transport in the Nizhny Novgorod region. The territory of the Karacharovsky Mechanical Plant, a resident of the SEZ, will be reorganized “Technopolis Moscow," wrote the mayor. The Karacharovsky Mechanical Plant (KMZ) is located in the Nizhny Novgorod region of the Southeastern Administrative District at 2 Ryazansky Prospekt. He is a resident of the Technopolis Moscow Special Economic Zone (SEZ).

The company, founded in 1950, remains one of the leaders of the domestic elevator industry today. The plant produces about five thousand elevators annually. His products are in high demand in the Moscow market — elevators manufactured at KMZ are installed in thousands of residential and public buildings throughout the capital, including such famous symbols of Moscow as the Cathedral of Christ the Savior and the memorial on Poklonnaya Gora.

In recent years, the plant has been actively supplying its products for new buildings being built under the renovation program.

According to the approved planning project, the non—residential land area of KMZ facilities will increase more than three times to 194.22 thousand square meters, of which 165.9 thousand square meters will be used for new construction. Most of the new facilities will be built at the expense of private investors. As a result of the modernization of the enterprise, the main production workshop with a boiler room will be preserved and new public production facilities will be built, including a production complex with a test tower, two administrative and production buildings and an above-ground garage.

Additionally, a restaurant with an observation deck and a conference room will be opened in the building of the test tower, and it is planned to organize a recreational area for employees on the territory of the plant.

As a result of the modernization of the plant, its production capacity will increase to 12,000 elevators per year. The company will also be able to produce heavy and commercial escalators, travelators, lifting platforms for people with disabilities, control stations, multimedia screens for vertical transport, telemetry kits and other components of elevator equipment.

In total, about three thousand new jobs will be created, the total number of employees will exceed 4.5 thousand people. Thus, the KMZ production site will become Russia's first cluster of elevator construction and vertical transport.
