Moskvich Automobile Plant is becoming a high-tech cluster for the production of electric and hybrid cars

Modern equipment, highly qualified specialists and localized small-scale assembly processes already make it possible to produce relevant domestic models here. Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin, First Deputy Prime Minister Denis Manturov, and Alexey Kudrin, Yandex's Corporate development adviser, launched the production of the UMO electric car at the plant.

It is a roomy and practical electric crossover with a spacious interior and trunk. The car is adapted to Russian climatic conditions, a full charge takes half an hour. It uses a Russian-language voice AI assistant from Yandex, and in the future there will be a remote control function via a mobile application.

The production is carried out by EM Rus, a resident of the Technopolis Moscow SEZ and a participant in the Moscow Cluster of Electric Vehicles. The first 100 cars of the new model will be handed over to taxi companies this month.

In the future, UMO will be available to retail customers, including through the plant's dealer network. By the end of the year, it is planned to produce over three thousand such electric vehicles. Batteries for UMO are supposed to be produced in a cluster of electricity storage systems, which is being built at the SEZ site in Krasnaya Pakhra and will be launched by the end of this year.
