Not all sectors of the economy are equally visible. Moscow sweets and meat products can be found on store shelves thousands of kilometers away from the capital. But the fact that Moscow is one of the leading centers of transport engineering in Russia is much less often talked about. Meanwhile, today about 760 Moscow enterprises are engaged in the production of electronics and devices for cars, trains, loading equipment and other vehicles, as well as elements of road infrastructure.
In 2025, the industry demonstrated steady growth – the production of electric motor parts increased 2.3 times, and components and accessories for motor vehicles increased 2 times compared to last year. The output of electrical alarm devices, electrical equipment for safety or traffic control on railways, highways, tramways and waterways, as well as parking areas, port facilities or airfields increased by almost 4%.
With the support of the Moscow Government, enterprises are actively developing and implementing innovative solutions to improve the comfort of drivers and passengers. These include modern lighting, road markings, intelligent traffic light control systems, electric charging stations, and high-tech road signs.
The products of Moscow enterprises are in demand not only in the capital, but also in other regions of the Russian Federation.
The Nanotechnology Center for Composites, a resident of the Technopolis Moscow Special Economic Zone, develops and manufactures products based on new materials. These include composite trays, protective cases for gas pipes, railings, and road slabs, which are used at significant infrastructure facilities in the country: bridges and overpasses, hydraulic structures, and energy facilities.
Railings, for example, are installed on highways and railways throughout Russia. The company's products were used in the construction of more than 30 bridges and overpasses on major federal highways, on flood defenses in St. Petersburg, as well as on the railway bridge of the Trans-Siberian Railway in the Irkutsk region.
Another solution is fiberglass trays, which are used to collect and drain water from the carriageway of highways, bridges, and overpasses. The products successfully replace previously used analogues – they are more wear-resistant and durable.
DiagnostikaM, another SEZ resident, develops and manufactures innovative search and inspection and X-ray equipment.
