A unique cluster for the production of electricity storage systems is being created in the Technopolis Moscow special economic zone. By 2030, it will provide almost 70% of the domestic market's demand for batteries. This was announced by Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin.

"The cluster will be located in Krasnopakhorsky district of TiNAO. Today, Alexander Kurenkov, Minister of Civil Defense, Emergencies and Disaster Management, and Alexey Likhachev, CEO of Rosatom State Corporation, inspected the construction of two of his enterprises. The plants will be built using the most modern technologies and equipped with advanced equipment, which will ensure the environmentally friendly production of electricity storage systems. Their launch is important not only for Moscow, but for the whole of Russia. This is part of a large-scale effort to ensure the technological sovereignty of the country, which we are carrying out on behalf of the President," Sobyanin wrote on his telegram channel.

There will be not only the largest production facility in Russia, but also a Center for advanced scientific and technical developments for the production of the most modern batteries. Today, about 35% of the cost of electric vehicles is a traction battery. Localization of its production in Krasnaya Pakhra will reduce the cost and increase the economic attractiveness of using such transport.

"The release of lithium-ion batteries will help expand domestic production of electric vehicles and have a positive impact on the environmental situation in Moscow. It will also contribute to the development of new technologies in related fields. After reaching the design capacity, these two plants will be able to produce up to 33 million battery cells per year. The enterprises will create more than 2.1 thousand new high—tech jobs, primarily for residents of the Troitsk and Novomoskovsky administrative districts," Sobyanin stressed.
