The city is consistently strengthening its international cooperation with friendly countries in the fields of industry and high technology.
The International Forum "Dialogue for Development: Cooperation between Moscow and the Regions of the People's Republic of China" was held in Shenzhen, bringing together representatives of the Russian and Chinese business and expert communities. Participants included the Russian diplomatic mission to the People's Republic of China, representatives of regional and city administrations, investors, companies, industry experts, business associations, and young entrepreneurs.
During the event, the parties discussed expanding cooperation ties, new forms of interaction, and the launch of joint projects in the Technopolis Moscow Special Economic Zone. Representatives of the Moscow special economic zone signed cooperation agreements with the Shandong Lunai Information Technology Group and the Shanghai Youth Entrepreneurship Foundation.
"On the instructions of Sergei Sobyanin, we are consistently strengthening the capital's international cooperation with friendly countries in the fields of industry and high technology. China remains a key partner for the city: we share similar development dynamics, a high level of technological competence, and a shared interest in developing a modern industrial infrastructure. The forum in Shenzhen proved its effectiveness – following its results, participants began developing new joint projects in microelectronics, electric transport, pharmaceuticals, robotics, and other promising industries developing within the Technopolis Moscow special economic zone,” said Maxim Liksutov, Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Transport and Industry in the Moscow Government.
The event program included a formal opening ceremony, panel discussions, and specialized meetings with representatives of the Guangdong Province business community. Participants were introduced to Moscow's investment and industrial potential, learned about support measures for the capital's special economic zone, and discussed prospects for bilateral cooperation in microelectronics, high-tech food processing, artificial intelligence, robotics, pharmaceuticals, medical technology, biotechnology, bioeconomics, electric vehicle manufacturing, development, and cosmetology.
"Despite the unfavorable foreign economic environment, including illegitimate sanctions imposed by the West, Russian-Chinese trade and economic cooperation has withstood the test of strength and continues to develop steadily. China has further strengthened its position as Russia's largest trading partner. Over 90% of settlements between us are conducted in national currencies. The spectrum of our cooperation is very broad. Nevertheless, we constantly need to seek new areas of common interest and forms of collaboration, including at the interregional and inter-municipal levels," noted Yuri Teplov, Consul General of Russia in Guangzhou.
Moscow and the regions of China have been actively cooperating for many years. For example, in 2024, Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin and Beijing Mayor Yin Yong signed a cooperation program between the governments of the two cities for 2024–2026. The main areas of cooperation between Moscow and Beijing include the exchange of experience and the implementation of joint projects in areas such as trade and economic cooperation, telecommunications and IT technologies, environmental protection, social protection and healthcare, education, culture and tourism, and urban development policy.
