Road plates made from recycled vehicle tires and manufactured by the Nanotechnology Composite Center, a resident of the Technopolis Moscow Special Economic Zone, have demonstrated reliable performance in the harsh conditions of the Far North. The plates are designed to provide access routes for heavy machinery to construction and industrial sites and serve as an alternative to traditional concrete road slabs. The results were announced by Maksim Liksutov, Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Transport and Industry.
“On behalf of Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin, the city provides active support to industrial enterprises developing high-tech products. For example, a resident of the Technopolis Moscow SEZ produces road plates made from recycled automotive tires. Using these plates, a temporary road for heavy machinery was quickly installed at the Severo-Soleninskoye gas condensate field. The plates not only fulfilled their primary function but also protected the upper soil layer from the impact of wheels and tracks. The resident’s production capacity allows manufacturing up to 8,000 mobile road plates annually,” said Maksim Liksutov.
The solution developed by the Nanotechnology Composite Center is reusable, lighter in weight, and demonstrates superior strength characteristics. Each plate measures 4 × 2 meters, weighs just 950 kg, and is engineered to withstand even the turning load of tracked vehicles weighing more than 110 tons
