"Over 1,400 Engineering Class Students Visited the Technopolis Moscow SEZ
In the 2024–2025 academic year, around 1,400 students from engineering classes visited the enterprises of the Technopolis Moscow SEZ as part of the Engineering Class in Moscow School project. This is almost twice as many as during the same period last year, according to Anatoly Garbuzov, Moscow Government Minister and Head of the Department of Investment and Industrial Policy.
“Technopolis Moscow SEZ is not only a hub for industrial growth but also a driver for developing the city’s human capital. For the second consecutive academic year, the Moscow SEZ has acted as an industrial partner of the Engineering Class in Moscow School project. Within this framework, the SEZ helps organize industrial tours that immerse young engineers into the work of high-tech enterprises. From September to May, about 1,400 students from engineering classes visited companies at the Pechatniki site — nearly double the number from the 2023–2024 academic year,” said Anatoly Garbuzov.
Currently, more than 15 major companies from the SEZ are participating in the program, including Russia’s leading producers of microelectronics and photonics, medical devices, new materials, additive technologies, and IT solutions.
“For each industrial site, the project office of engineering classes develops educational materials about the enterprise, the engineering professions involved, and the pre-professional skills and knowledge needed for future specialists to become potential employees. After the tours, students complete practice-oriented assignments, which help them realize that mathematics, physics, computer science, and knowledge of modern production technologies are essential in all areas of industry,” emphasized Mikhail Silantyev, Director of the Institute for the Development of Specialized Education at Moscow City University.
The Engineering Class in Moscow School project has been running in the capital since 2015. Senior students follow the school–college–university–industrial partner pathway. Each engineering class student attends at least five industrial tours: three in grade 10 and two in grade 11. These tours provide students with both theoretical and practical knowledge in real production environments guided by practicing specialists.
As noted by Gennady Degtev, CEO of the Technopolis Moscow SEZ, the SEZ hosts numerous initiatives aimed at developing production skills among young people. Among them is the Tech Internship project, which has already provided practical training to more than 1,500 students.
Earlier, Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin announced that for the fourth consecutive year, the Technopolis Moscow SEZ ranked first among all technology implementation–oriented SEZs in Russia."
