Mayor Sobyanin Launches Production of Space-Grade Solar Panels at Technopolis Moscow
Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin announced the launch of serial production of solar panels in the city — a new step toward Russia’s technological leadership in the space industry.
The new production line was set up by BUREAU 1440, a resident of the Technopolis Moscow SEZ.
“Over the past five years, BUREAU 1440 has grown from a research project into a developer of key technologies for low-Earth orbit satellite constellations. The company’s main high-tech complex is located in Moscow, at the SEZ’s Pechatniki site. It offers everything needed for growth: a modern factory, a strong engineering team, close cooperation with other innovative enterprises, and full support from the city,” Sobyanin wrote.
The facility will provide a full production cycle for solar panels — from creating the photogenerating layer to assembling frames, deployment systems, and control units. The annual output will reach 750,000 watts of space-grade solar panels.
Alongside the new production line, the site hosts R&D centers, testing facilities, and a mission control center for BUREAU 1440’s own low-Earth orbit satellite constellation.
Currently in Moscow, the company is also developing and manufacturing laser communication terminals (space-to-space), radio link components (Earth-to-space-to-Earth), as well as spacecraft solar panels and propulsion systems.
he Mayor noted that the city will continue to support such important projects.
