Technopolis Moscow Resident Develops Head Unit for Electric Vehicle
A range of next-generation touchscreen multimedia head units for the “Atom” electric vehicle has been developed by Nex-T, a resident company of the Technopolis Moscow Special Economic Zone (SEZ), Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Transport and Industry Maxim Liksutov reported.
“In Moscow, special attention is given to the development of environmentally friendly transport. Manufacturers are provided with special statuses, land plots, and other tax incentives. Following the instructions of Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin, an electric vehicle cluster is successfully developing within the Technopolis Moscow SEZ, where leading market players work on new technologies, increase production of electric vehicles and components. A resident of the Technopolis Moscow SEZ has developed and launched a range of innovative multimedia head units with next-generation touchscreens and advanced software-hardware integration. The device is integrated directly into the steering wheel,” said Maxim Liksutov.
The innovative solution was initially designed specifically for domestic vehicles, and in the future, the development will be available to other manufacturers as a component for ready-made products.
“By the end of the year, another version is planned for presentation, which will be installed in the center console of the vehicle. This touchscreen display will allow the driver to control multimedia, navigation, climate control, and other vehicle systems without taking their eyes off the road,” said Anatoly Garbuzov, Minister of the Moscow Government and Head of the Department of Investment and Industrial Policy.
The high-tech equipment will be manufactured at the company’s own facilities located at the Pechatniki site.
“The development of a new line of multimedia systems for vehicles is an important stage in the development of the Russian automotive industry and the digitalization of transport management. The implementation of such a large-scale project was made possible thanks to comprehensive support from the Moscow Government and the well-developed infrastructure of Technopolis Moscow SEZ, which provides favorable conditions for the development of modern technologies and effective cooperation,” said Vladimir Krikushenko, CEO of NexTouch.
According to Gennady Dyogtev, CEO of the Technopolis Moscow SEZ, Nex-T received SEZ resident status in 2017. This special status allows companies to benefit from tax breaks and other incentives, channeling the saved resources into production expansion, product range development, as well as new R&D projects and patent acquisition.
