Around 2,300 Elevators from Karacharovsky Mechanical Plant to Be Installed in Moscow under the Major Renovation Program
In 2025, specialists from the installation division of the Karacharovsky Mechanical Plant (KMZ) will install approximately 2,300 elevators under the Capital Renovation Fund program, Anatoly Garbuzov, Minister of the Moscow Government and Head of the Department of Investment and Industrial Policy, reported.
“At the end of last year, the Karacharovsky Mechanical Plant joined the Technopolis Moscow Special Economic Zone and became a base for the development of the vertical transport and elevator cluster. Today, the plant is implementing the first stage of large-scale modernization of its production facilities and has also launched new directions for the installation and maintenance of in-house equipment. The plant’s products are in demand both within the Moscow metropolitan area and beyond. In the capital, KMZ elevators are being installed, including under the major renovation program. More than 576 KMZ elevators are already in the process of installation. It is planned that by the end of the year, about 1,700 more units of vertical transport will be installed,” emphasized Anatoly Garbuzov.
Elevator installation work under the major renovation program is carried out across all districts of Moscow, including the Troitsky and Novomoskovsky Administrative Okrugs (TiNAO). Specialists are installing “Sirius” lifts, which move at speeds of up to 1.6 m/s, have a service life of 25 years, and are used in buildings up to 26 stories high.
“We are actively developing our own installation division at the plant. Training a specialist takes more than a year; the candidate goes through a special adaptation program and works as an assistant installer under the guidance of an experienced mentor. The development of KMZ’s installation division will create around 300 jobs,” explained Dmitry Sidelkovsky, General Director of the Karacharovsky Mechanical Plant.
KMZ installation specialists also work on elevators in older Moscow buildings, including those with frame-attached shafts. Elevator installation takes from 35 to 60 days depending on the number of floors in the building.
