Scarce components for medical equipment will be printed on a 3D printer in the Technopolis Moscow SEZ

The companies located on the territory of special economic zone are ready to launch the production of deficit components for medical equipment with the help of 3D-printers. The first sample parcels of valves for medical systems and touchless cut-out devices have already been sent to the capital hospitals. “Today you can print nearly anything with a 3D-printer: from a whistle to a real plane and a heart valve. This technology enables to quickly design the equipment and start its manufacturing. These are the rapid and totally new solutions that the rapid spread of coronavirus demands. Following the best world practice the capital city companies will provide hospitals of the country with necessary parts”, – said Alexander Prokhorov, Head of the Department of investment and industrial policy of the City of Moscow.

“The ready-to-use 3D-products can replace the lacking components and help keeping the production of vital equipment. Today more and more tenants of SEZ Technopolis Moscow offer to 3D print the lacking components. Every day the company “Additive Engineering” LLC (the subsidiary of the company SIU System) located on the territory of capital special economic zone releases 175 protective reusable respirators made of polyamides, 48 valves for breathing systems and 4000 touchless devices. The demand is booming”, said Gennady Degtev, CEO of SEZ Technopolis Moscow.

According to Ashkhen Ovsepyan, CEO of “Additive Engineering” LLC the main advantage of 3D-printing is that you don’t need a lot of resources and space to produce components. “Many things can be printed on limited manufacturing sites. The main thing you need is a pattern and adequate changes to 3D model. Our capacities allow for the production of 15 000 units per month,” she added.
