The resident of the SEZ Technopolis Moscow, the company Additive Engineering, has launched a new service - laboratory production of metal powders in small volumes for 3D printing as informed by Gennady Degtev, CEO of SEZ Technopolis Moscow.

“Companies engaged in 3D metal printing in the capital's special economic zone now can get laboratory samples of metal powder. With this aim the SEZ resident has launched new equipment - a laboratory atomizer, which, unlike industrial devices, processes small metal workpieces and allows additive manufacturing to save up to 70% of raw materials during research and implementation work. The equipment, which is rare for this industry, installed in the SEZ, strengthens the position of the capital's special economic zone not only in the field of innovation, but also in the field of resource-saving technologies”, said Gennady Degtev.

The production of metal powder is based on ultrasonic atomization, which allows the production of powders with any particle size.

“The installed atomizer is a compact atomization system producing up to 0.3 liters of powder per hour. A metal rod with a diameter of up to 10 mm or a wire with a diameter of up to 2 mm can be used as a raw material - the volume of raw materials small enough to save resources. This kind of equipment and service are absolutely unique. Usually, atomizers are huge machines, where you need to load more than ten kilograms of raw materials for processing at a time”, shared Ashkhen Ovsepyan, CEO of Additive Engineering company.

Additive Engineering opened the production at the site in Pechatniki earlier this year and received the status of a resident of the special economic zone Technopolis Moscow in August 2020. Until 2029, the company's total investment in 3D production will amount to about 100 million rubles. In the next 10 years, the company plans to occupy almost 5% of the Russian market of additive technologies.
