Pharmaceutical companies in the Special Economic Zone 'Technopolis Moscow' introduced 37 new drugs to the market in 2024. These include treatments for oncology, multiple sclerosis, chronic myelogenous leukemia, and others. This was reported by Maxim Liksutov, Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Transport and Industry.

"The capital plays a key role in the development of the domestic pharmaceutical industry and strengthening the country's pharmaceutical sovereignty. By order of Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin, a set of effective industry support tools has been created in the city, which allows regularly introducing in-demand drugs to the market and increasing production volumes. Today, eight resident companies in the Special Economic Zone 'Technopolis Moscow' produce life-saving drugs, and since their inception, they have produced goods worth over 74 billion rubles. In 2024, three companies from the Moscow SEZ introduced 37 new drugs to the market for the treatment of socially significant diseases," said Maxim Liksutov.

The pharmaceutical companies' production facilities are located on two sites – 'Alabushevo' and 'Pechatniki'. In addition, they are participants in the largest pharmaceutical cluster in the country.

"Offset contracts are signed with pharmaceutical companies in Moscow's SEZ, under which the companies manufacture innovative drugs, and the city guarantees their purchase. The companies have high-tech production lines, modern laboratories, and invest in research and development work. All of this contributes to the creation of new, effective drugs," noted Anatoly Garbuzov, Minister of the Moscow Government and Head of the Department of Investment and Industrial Policy of Moscow.

In March 2023, the Ministry of Health of Russia registered the first Russian original drug for the treatment of multiple sclerosis, developed by scientists of the Russian biotech company BIOCAD. The innovative drug reduces the immune-inflammatory process in the central nervous system, which reduces the number of relapses in patients with multiple sclerosis.

The development and research of the drug were supported by an investment of over one billion rubles from a resident of Moscow's SEZ. Production was successfully launched last year at the 'Alabushevo' site, and since then, the company has produced more than 7,000 packages of the drug.

The company 'R-Opra' (part of the R-Pharm Group) is also actively exploring new types of drugs for the treatment of oncological, autoimmune, asthmatic, and other diseases.

"The project to create a modern pharmaceutical production complex at the Moscow SEZ site became possible thanks to an offset contract. In 2024, the resident launched a production site for soft gelatin capsules used in the therapy of oncological diseases. The company also mastered over 10 new drugs for the treatment of socially significant diseases last year," said Gennady Dyogtev, General Director of the 'Technopolis Moscow' Special Economic Zone.

Another resident company of the Moscow SEZ, 'Amedart', in 2024 launched an import-substituting production of 26 new drugs at the 'Pechatniki' site, including treatments for oncology and HIV therapy. The launch of these critically important drugs is a significant step in providing Russian patients with affordable and high-quality medications.

The new modern equipment allows the resident to annually produce up to 10 million packages of antiretroviral drugs for HIV therapy and up to one million packages of anti-cancer drugs. The company's portfolio totals more than 100 product names. All are included in the list of vital drugs. The production capacity for these drugs reaches 15 million packages per year.

The Special Economic Zone 'Technopolis Moscow' is a territory with a special legal status, where preferential business conditions are offered to investors. The area of the territories hosting high-tech enterprises of the SEZ exceeds 390 hectares. The 'Technopolis Moscow' SEZ has been a leader in international and national industry rankings for several years.
