Pharmaceuticals is one of the anchor branches of the special economic zone of Moscow, along with microelectronics, medicine, information technology and modern materials. This industry is constantly evolving: last year alone, investments in the capital's pharmaceutical companies reached 10.5 billion rubles, which is more than 133% more than in 2019. The Moscow Special Economic Zone is one of the main centers for the development of the industry; ten pharmaceutical companies already have the resident status. Most of them are located at the Pechatniki site in Moscow; several large factories are located at the Alabushevo site in Zelenograd. The pharmaceutical company Biocad has localized production in Alabushevo and, under an offset contract with the Moscow Government, is focused on the production of drugs for the treatment of cancer. The R-Opra company, which has also signed an offset contract, will launch the production of medicines for the treatment of oncological diseases, as well as antirheumatic, anti-asthma and other drugs at the Alabushevo site pointed out Alexander Prokhorov, Head of the Department for Investment and Industrial policy of Moscow. “The construction of R-Oprah is scheduled for completion in 2022. And by the end of this year, the first stage of another pharmaceutical industry enterprise, the Bright Way Industries plant, should be built on the territory of the SEZ in Zelenograd. The production of a wide range of drugs of various pharmacotherapeutic groups and release forms will be set up there”, revealed the Head of the Department. In 2021, it is also expected to commission the manufacturing of biomedical cell products from Akrus BioMed, and at the beginning of 2022 the construction of the Oncotarget plant for oncological preparations will be completed. “Resident status allows businesses to save on taxes and other mandatory payments annually. Companies gain access to duty-free imports, a zero rate on property and transportation, and a preferential rate on profits. The released funds of the pharmaceutical company, localized in the Technopolis Moscow SEZ, are investing in the development of production.
