The OxyCor company from the special economic zone (SEZ) Technopolis Moscow has developed the first Russian membrane oxygenator - a device for artificial oxygenation of blood. Production will start in September 2023. This was announced by Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Economic Policy and Property and Land Relations Vladimir Efimov. "For the development of import substitution and support of Moscow enterprises in SEZ Technopolis Moscow a pharmaceutical cluster has been created. Its participant is the company Oksikor, which plans to localize a new production of membrane oxygenator on the site Pechatniki. The launch of the first stage is scheduled for September 2023, the second - for January 2024. At the first stage it is planned to produce 10 thousand units, further it will grow to 50 thousand units per year. Thus, the company will provide Russian medical institutions with a 100 percent domestic device," said Vladimir Efimov. The oxygenator is designed to saturate the blood with oxygen and remove carbon dioxide from it during cardiac surgery, severe pneumonias, development of acute cardiac and respiratory failure. The devices showed their high efficiency and relevance during the coronavirus pandemic. Today the Russian market is represented by devices of foreign manufacturers. The membrane oxygenator of the company from the SEZ "Technopolis Moscow" will be the first 100 percent domestic device after its launch on the market. "The company has signed an agreement to lease over 426 square meters of production space in December 2022. The project has already invested about 80 million rubles and created 22 jobs," specified Vladislav Ovchinsky, head of the Department of Investment and Industrial Policy, which is part of the Complex of Economic Policy and Property and Land Relations of the capital. The enterprises of the medical cluster are the flagship of SEZ Technopolis Moscow by the volume of realized products. According to Gennady Degtev, General Director of SEZ Technopolis Moscow, in the first quarter of 2023 alone, the companies recorded 8.4 billion rubles in revenue, which is six times higher than in 2022 and 23 times higher than in 2021. The explosive growth was facilitated by the opening of new production facilities, increase of existing capacities, and high demand for domestic medical and pharmaceutical products. The uniqueness of the first Russian oxygenator, which is preparing to enter the market, is not only in the fact that it is fully developed by domestic specialists, but also in the manufacturer's own know-how of gluing the membrane of the device through which oxygen is delivered to the patient's blood. The device has passed clinical trials, its registration in the Russian State Register of medical devices and organizations (individual entrepreneurs) engaged in the production and manufacture of medical devices is underway. "The project to develop and produce an oxygenator was conceived back in 2020, at the height of the coronavirus pandemic, when it became clear that these devices were not manufactured in Russia. Before COVID-19, the procedure of extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) - artificial oxygenation of the blood - was performed in rare cases, mainly for severe respiratory failure in newborns. During the pandemic, the practice of using the oxygenator has significantly expanded, and today the interest in this product on the part of the Russian Ministry of Health has grown significantly. After the device is brought to the market, our main customers will be inpatient medical institutions," said Natalia Onuprienko, CEO of Oxykor. _______________________________________________ Press service of the SEZ Technopolis Moscow Phone: +7 916 516-15-46 Mail: pr@technomoscow.ru [ mailto:pr@technomoscow.ru ] Subscribe to the SEZ "Technopolis Moscow" in social networks, follow the main news of the SEZ in telegram-channel [ https://t.me/technopolismoscow ] and receive all the most important news delivered to your mail in our weekly newsletter [ http://events.technomoscow.ru/subscribe/?utm_source=site_technomoscow ] .
