The Moscow research center Umatex, operating on the territory of the special economic zone Technopolis Moscow, has launched the production of composites based on thermoplastics and carbon fiber applicable in the production of body parts which are subject to severe wear, high temperatures, X-rays and gamma radiation. Such materials are produced by only a few companies in the world informed Alexander Prokhorov, Head of the Department of investment and industrial policy of Moscow. “The development will expand the possibilities of using composites in aviation, space, engine building, shipbuilding and oil and gas industries. This is a completely Russian solution: the source materials and the finished product are created by the center's researchers. The production capacity of the company, which employs about 300 people, at this stage allows the production of up to 25 thousand square meters of new material per year, subsequently they can be increased depending on the market demand”, said the Head of the Department. The material of the capital manufacturer has a number of advantages over other types of composites: it is resistible to temperatures, recyclable and easy to weld, and has a short cure cycle. “We see that the demand for composite materials is growing, now it is one of the main trends in the industry. On the territory of the capital's special economic zone, about 10 companies are engaged in developments in this area. Their solutions are applied not only in Russia, but are also successfully exported to the CIS countries, Europe and Asia”, said Gennady Degtev, CEO of SEZ Technopolis Moscow. According to Alexander Tyunin, CEO of UMATEX Rosatom new products are already available to promise. “Our company is the first manufacturer in Russia to offer the market a finished product - a thermoplastic material based on carbon fiber and polyetheretherketone. The material is highly resistant to damage, has unlimited shelf life and is recyclable. The first supply orders have already been placed”, said Alexander Tyunin. ---------------------- Press service of the SEZ "Technopolis Moscow" Phone: +7 916 516-15-46 Mail: pr@technomoscow.ru [ mailto:pr@technomoscow.ru ] Subscribe to the SEZ "Technopolis Moscow" in social networks, follow the main news of the SEZ in telegram-channel [ https://t.me/technopolismoscow ] and receive all the most important news delivered to your mail in our weekly newsletter [ http://events.technomoscow.ru/subscribe/?utm_source=site_technomoscow ] .
