Technopolis Moscow, a resident of Special Economic Zone, received a patent for a fiber optic sensor designed to measure ultra-high currents. Profotek company developed the device for the project of experimental thermonuclear reactor, a new generation of power plants capable of generating endless and clean energy. The device passed a number of tests and confirmed its declared characteristics. This was reported by Vladislav Ovchinsky, head of the Department of Investment and Industrial Policy of Moscow, which is part of the capital's Economic Policy and Property and Land Relations Complex. "Since 2018, the Profotek research and production company has been part of the Moscow SEZ microelectronics and optics cluster, where it is located on an area of 2.7 thousand square meters in Pechatniki. The company's new development relates to technologies of the future - controlled thermonuclear fusion, which can provide huge amounts of environmentally friendly and safe energy. Russia was the first to develop the technology of fusion reactor and build an experimental installation, the so-called tokamak. The works in this direction are still in progress, that is why the development of the resident of SEZ "Technopolis Moscow" has a great practical value", - said Vladislav Ovchinsky. The company is engaged in the development, production and implementation of equipment based on its own innovative technologies from the field of photonics. The company's products are used in building solutions for smart energy and energy-intensive industries. "The presented technical solution has no analogues in the world and will provide the ability to measure ultrahigh currents - from hundreds of kiloamperes to tens of megaamperes, which are observed during the operation of a thermonuclear reactor. The unique products of the manufacturers of the capital SEZ are in high demand in the market. The opportunities and benefits that we provide to residents, help companies to increase productivity, increase investment and actively promote their products. For the five years of residency the enterprise has managed to bring more than a dozen of its developments to the Russian and international markets," - said CEO of Technopolis Moscow SEZ Gennady Degtev. The main element of the tokamak-type thermonuclear reactor is the system of long-lasting keeping of the red-hot plasma in the toroidal chamber by means of a magnetic field. Depending on its power, the unit is able to create a current of 1 to 17 mega amperes in the plasma, with the plasma itself heating up to 150 million degrees Celsius, which is 10 times greater than in the core of the Sun. "The uniqueness of the development manifests itself not only in the high accuracy and stability of measurements of direct and pulse currents arising in the fusion reactor chamber, but also in the scalability of the solution in terms of the range of measured values and the possibility of porting the invention to the measurement and protection systems of the power equipment of traditional power engineering - powerful generators and transformers of HPP and NPP," summarized Maxim Yanin, technical director of the company. _______________________________________ Press service of the SEZ "Technopolis Moscow" Phone: +7 916 516-15-46 Mail: pr@technomoscow.ru [ mailto:pr@technomoscow.ru ] Subscribe to the SEZ "Technopolis Moscow" in social networks, follow the main news of the SEZ in telegram-channel [ https://t.me/technopolismoscow ] and receive all the most important news delivered to your mail in our weekly newsletter [ http://events.technomoscow.ru/subscribe/?utm_source=site_technomoscow ] .
