Technopolis Moscow SEZ produced parts for racing motorcycles

The UMATEX research center (Rosatom division) operating on the territory of the special economic zone (SEZ) Technopolis Moscow has equipped racing motorcycles with composite accessories for the international superbike competition as informed by Alexander Prokhorov, Head of the Department for Investment and Industrial policy of Moscow. “In the Moscow special economic zone, composite materials are created and produced for various applications - from aviation and space to shipbuilding and the oil and gas industry. One of the interesting projects was the development of carbon parts for racing motorcycles at the UMATEX Research Center. Composite accessories were created for the World Championship and the British Superbike Championship”, pointed out Alexander Prokhorov. Together with the Kawasaki Puccetti Racing team, the R&D center is involved in the design and manufacture of composite fairing kits for motorcycles. These details improve speed and aerodynamics. The composite body kit uses Airforce's designer carbon fiber fabric with a unique pattern that creates a 3D effect in the finished garment. The UMATEX Research Center, located in SEZ Technopolis Moscow, is equipped with the most modern equipment for the development and creation of composites stated Gennady Degtev, CEO of SEZ Technopolis Moscow. “The company is the only carbon fiber manufacturer in Russia with large-scale manufacturing facilities for the entire composite production chain. The enterprise is an anchor in the cluster of new materials in the capital's SEZ. UMATEX is actively developing its export business. For example, the company's products are successfully used in the creation of new generation vessels by Italian shipbuilders - the companies Azimut and San Lorenzo”, revealed Gennady Degtev. For the first time this year, a motorcycle with a composite body kit will compete in the BSB British Superbike Championship.
