Technopolis Moscow SEZ launches production of a drug for the treatment of dementia in Alzheimer's

The product for older people with moderate to severe illness will be available in the city's pharmacies as early as April this year. Specialists of the Special Economic Zone (SEZ) Technopolis Moscow have begun producing a new drug for the treatment of dementia in Alzheimer's disease. “Today, about 30 enterprises operate in the cluster of medical technologies, equipment and biopharmaceuticals in the Technopolis Moscow SEZ. They make a significant contribution to the development of modern medicine and the provision of medicines and medical devices to the capital and regions of Russia. The new medicine was developed by a Russian pharmaceutical company and is produced at the site of the special economic zone of the capital. The drug will be delivered to Moscow pharmacies in April 2022,” said Vladimir Yefimov, Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Economic Policy and Property and Land Relations. The drug is manufactured by a company from the metropolitan SEZ - the Technology Center "NovaMedica Innotech" (a subsidiary of the company "NovaMedica", an investment project of RUSNANO Management Company). The uniqueness of the product, as noted by the manufacturer, is in the combination in one dosage form of two molecules that complement each other's action. The drug is available in the form of tablets in four dosages. “The SEZ of the capital has become a center of attraction for innovative companies with great technological potential. About 20 enterprises today have the status of a resident. They produce drugs for the treatment of oncological, endocrine, immune diseases. The production of a Russian drug at the facilities of the NovaMedica Innotech Technology Center is a vivid example of the readiness of the domestic pharmaceutical industry to create and manufacture innovative products. This is an important step in ensuring the drug safety of the country,” emphasized the head of the Department of Investment and Industrial Policy of the city of Moscow Vladislav Ovchinsky. Over the past year, six medical enterprises have joined the Moscow SEZ community. And for the entire period of operation of the special economic zone, the residents of the pharmaceutical cluster have produced products worth more than 6.9 billion rubles, said General Director of the SEZ Technopolis Moscow Gennady Degtev. The General Director of the NovaMedica Innotech Technology Center Timofey Petrov confirmed that the potential of Innotech's technological capacities allows doubling the number of research and production projects, offering partners an international level service.
