SEZ Technopolis Moscow implemented the ESG model

The Technopolis Moscow Special Economic Zone has implemented an ESG model on its sites aimed at achieving the UN sustainable development goals. In April, Russian President Vladimir Putin instructed the Government to consider the issue of state support for investment projects that meet ESG criteria - environmental, social and corporate responsibility - by the end of 2022. Thus, the introduction of an infrastructure site model aimed at achieving the SDGs can significantly increase its investment potential. “Sustainable development remains one of the most important factors in the functioning of the Technopolis Moscow as a platform for accommodating the leading high-tech enterprises of the capital. The ESG agenda is relevant both for the existing sites of the SEZ Technopolis Moscow TIT and for new territories that are planned to be included in the boundaries of the Moscow Special Economic Zone,” said Gennady Degtev, CEO of the SEZ Technopolis Moscow. Recall that the employees of the Association of Clusters, Technoparks and SEZs of Russia and the Institute of Knowledge Economy have done a lot of joint work on the implementation of ESG standards on the territory of the SEZ Technopolis Moscow. Its first stage was an ESG audit of all sites in the preferential zone -Pechatniki, Alabushevo, MIET, Angstrem and Mikron. It used indicators developed by the Association's employees and other members of the working group and recommended by the Ministry of Economic Development of the Russian Federation for management companies of special economic zones. In particular, the auditors checked the presence of road markings and traffic patterns, drew attention to waste management, the procedure for taking samples of water and atmospheric air, and collected information on wastewater treatment systems. Based on the results of the ESG audit, a report on the sustainable development of the management company of the special economic zone for 2021 was compiled. Then, strategic sessions on sustainable development were held for representatives of the management company of the SEZ Technopolis Moscow, dedicated to Environmental Policy, Social Policy and Corporate Governance. Within the framework of these meetings, experts from ACIT RF and the Institute of Knowledge Economy gave their recommendations to colleagues from the SEZ Moscow, which formed the basis of the Sustainable Development Strategy for the management company Technopolis Moscow. The document spells out the key areas of activity of the special economic zone in the field of sustainable development until 2030.
