Zelenograd Nanotechnology Center (ZNTC JSC), the resident of SEZ Technopolis Moscow, will launch Russia's first experimental line for production of gallium nitride-based transistor crystals. These radioelectronic components are used in the production of powerful power supplies, modules of 5G communication systems, equipment for servers and data centers, wireless charging stations for electric transport, said the Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Economic Policy and Property and Land Relations Vladimir Efimov. "ZNTC company, located at the MIET site of the SEZ, has completed the next stage of infrastructure preparation to produce gallium nitride-based transistor crystals – construction and commissioning of a site for experimental production. The company invested about one billion rubles in the project. This is the first such production in Russia," said Vladimir Efimov. Gallium nitride is one of the most popular and promising materials for modern electronics. The development of technologies based on this semiconductor is of strategic importance for such sectors as telecommunications, car industry, industrial automation, and energy. "Leading industry analysts predict that the average annual growth rate of the global market for power electronics based on gallium nitride will be 85 percent over the next two years. Important advantages of transistors based on this semiconductor are fast performance compared to products based on other technologies as Mosfet and IGBT, as well as the ability to operate at high voltages and high reliability. ZSTC plans to start small-scale production of gallium nitride microelectronics based on basic technologies in 2023," said Vladislav Ovchinsky, Head of the Moscow Department of Investment and Industrial Policy. "Zelenograd Nanotechnology Center" specializes in the development and production of ECB sensors and sensors for industrial automation systems, energy, oil and gas industry, intelligent control systems. "At present, the Zelenograd Nanotechnology Center is working with technological and industrial partners to create a fully localized technology to produce electronic component base based on gallium nitride in Russia. A significant advantage for the company is the opportunity to minimize investment costs using infrastructure formed in the SEZ "Technopolis Moscow," added Anatoly Kovalev, CEO of the ZNTC JSC.
