Resident of SEZ Technopolis Moscow, the company Epiel, increased exports of microelectronics by almost 70% in the first quarter of 2021 compared to the same period last year, said Alexander Prokhorov, Head of the Department for Investment and Industrial policy of Moscow. Epiel is the only enterprise in Russia that specializes in production of epitaxial structures based on silicon and sapphire. They are the basic material for production of microcircuits used in civil, military and space electronics. "The company's microelectronic products export growth was 69% in the first quarter of 2021 compared to the same period last year and exceeded 12 million rubles. At the same time, export volumes have almost reached the indicators of the first quarter of 2019, which indicates the recovery of demand in the global market, declined last year due to the pandemic and the related restrictions. Among the main directions of supply are China, Canada, Japan, and France," specified Alexander Prokhorov. A resident of the capital's special economic zone has also shown positive dynamics in the production of microelectronic products, said Gennady Degtev, CEO of SEZ Technopolis Moscow. "Production growth in the first quarter of 2021 compared to the same period last year was 27%, exceeding 130 million rubles. It also approached the level of the first quarter of 2019," said Gennady Degtev. The interest in Russian microelectronics in foreign markets is determined by the rapid recovery growth of the global semiconductor industry, explained Andrey Babaev, Commercial director of JSC Epiel. "The dynamic growth this year results from the desire of global manufacturers to meet the demand accumulated during the lockdown, when many factories were closed. But still the main growth is caused by objective market factors - the world needs more and more electronic devices. The widespread introduction of "smart" devices, the transition to electric transport, the increased demand for remote work equipment, new generation communication networks - all this creates a growing demand for semiconductor components that are the basis of all electronic devices. The main export focus in terms of supply volume and growth dynamics is China, which accounts for more than half of all exports and shows prospects for supply growth," said Andrey Babaev. ---------------------- Press service of the SEZ "Technopolis Moscow" Phone: +7 916 516-15-46 Mail: pr@technomoscow.ru [ mailto:pr@technomoscow.ru ] Subscribe to the SEZ "Technopolis Moscow" in social networks, follow the main news of the SEZ in telegram-channel [ https://t.me/technopolismoscow ]  and receive all the most important news delivered to your mail in our weekly newsletter [ http://events.technomoscow.ru/subscribe/?utm_source=site_technomoscow ] .
