Investments of residents of the SEZ Technopolis Moscow in the production of medicines increased five times

The total investment in the capital’s pharmaceutical industry amounted to $6.8 m in the first nine months of 2020. Slightly more than 80 percent of them are accounted for the residents of the special economic zone Technopolis Moscow, said Vladimir Efimov, Vice-Mayor of Moscow for Economic policy and Land-property affairs. “Investments of high-tech enterprises of Technopolis in the production of drugs and medical materials this year have increased more than five times compared to last year and exceeded $5.4 m. The total share of investments of the special economic zone companies in the nine months of 2020 in this segment is 81 percent”, said the Vice-Major. Now on the territory of SEZ Technopolis Moscow there are seven pharmaceutical manufactures specializing in the production of drugs against oncology, neuropsychiatric and autoimmune diseases, disorders of the musculoskeletal and respiratory systems, as well as products for ostomy patients and biomedical cell products for skin and soft tissue restoration. SEZ residents also cover a quarter of all investments in the production of computers, electronic and optical products. “The most numerous cluster of the SEZ Technopolis Moscow is made up of electronics manufacturers - 70 percent of the total number of enterprises. They make interactive panels, optical transformers, silicon wafers, transport cards, contactless payment chips, and more. A quarter of all Moscow investments into the production of computers, electronic and optical products come from them”, pointed out Alexander Prokhorov, Head of the Department for Investment and Industrial policy of Moscow. In total, the share of residents investments in the processing industries of the capital for three quarters of 2020 amounted to 11 percent declared Gennady Degtev, CEO of SEZ Technopolis Moscow. “From January to September this year, the share of investments of SEZ Technopolis Moscow resident companies in the processing industries of the capital was 11 percent. This figure is almost 1.6 p.p. higher compared to the same period in 2019.
