Development from the SEZ Technopolis Moscow clarified the coordinates of hundreds of objects on photographs from the ISS

New equipment from a resident of Moscow's special economic zone has helped identify objects on the Earth's surface in hundreds of photos from space, said Alexander Prokhorov, Head of the Department for Investment and Industrial policy of Moscow.  "There are about 15 companies operating in the capital's special economic zone, whose developments are used in the space industry. For example, improved equipment of the company "ruCap" has been installed on the International Space Station since 2019, during this time it allowed to determine the exact coordinates of objects on hundreds of images from orbit. The technical solution of the Russian inventors reduced the search radius of the geographical object corresponding to the image from 800 to 2 km. This is a unique equipment, which has no analogues in foreign practice", - said  Alexander Prokhorov. The technical solution lies in the fact that the hardware attached to the camera measures the lens tilt angle relative to the ISS hull. The data is recorded into the onboard computer, and a special program calculates the exact geographical coordinates of the Earth's surface, corresponding to each photo. A previous version of the equipment from a resident of the Moscow SEZ successfully worked on the ISS from 2012 to 2019, explained Gennady Degtev, CEO of SEZ Technopolis Moscow "Astronauts actively use the equipment, taking pictures through the portholes of the ISS. While previously the equipment was installed on one camera and allowed taking pictures from one porthole, the modernized version allows using two cameras and three portholes. Moreover, the current complex has a guidance function and can take photos in a semi-automatic mode according to predetermined coordinates at the moment of their passage by the ISS. The manufacturers of the innovative equipment benefit from the incentives of the Moscow special economic zone, which enables its tenants to implement projects more efficiently and to reduce the period of introducing new ideas into production," said Gennady Degtev.  ---------------------- Press service of the SEZ "Technopolis Moscow" Phone: +7 916 516-15-46 Mail: pr@technomoscow.ru [ mailto:pr@technomoscow.ru ] Subscribe to the SEZ "Technopolis Moscow" in social networks, follow the main news of the SEZ in telegram-channel [ https://t.me/technopolismoscow ]  and receive all the most important news delivered to your mail in our weekly newsletter [ http://events.technomoscow.ru/subscribe/?utm_source=site_technomoscow ] .
