Special economic zone Technopolis Moscow was set up in the capital in 2006, and now it is hosting about 200 high-tech companies, 88 of which have resident status and enjoy the right to receive benefits and preferences, as informed by Vladimir Efimov, Vice-Mayor of Moscow for Economic policy and Land-property affairs. “About 200 companies are localized in the capital's special economic zone today, 88 of them have resident status and enjoy a wide range of preferences. Five sites offer comfortable conditions for the operation of enterprises that focus on the manufacturing of innovative products in the field of microelectronics, medical and energy efficient technologies. They develop new materials, offer solutions for the information and communication sector. During their work in SEZ Technopolis Moscow residents have already invested in their projects more than 49 billion rubles and created over 8 thousand jobs”, announced the Vice-Mayor. Vladimir Efimov added that 22 high-tech enterprises received the resident status of SEZ Technopolis Moscow last year. “This year, 9 more companies have joined the technological community of the capital's SEZ to enhance the production of electric transport, medical supplies, produce equipment for ropeways, provide data storage, create software, including in the field of energy saving. The declared volume of investments of these new residents exceeds 10 billion rubles, and the production plans imply almost a thousand new jobs”, he pointed out. The most numerous industry segment in the capital's SEZ is the microelectronics cluster, which unites more than 30 tenants who work both in Moscow and at Zelenograd sites, specified Alexander Prokhorov, Head of the Department for Investment and Industrial policy of Moscow. “Over the entire period of work, the revenue of the residents of this cluster has exceeded 84 billion rubles, and the number of highly qualified jobs created by them is approaching one and a half thousand. Manufacturers of microcircuits, chips, digital tags and other products of the microelectronic industry provide the bulk of SEZ Technopolis Moscow's products. In the first half of 2021, they accounted for 56 percent of the total output in the SEZ of the capital. This year they are also leading in export: in the first six months, the enterprises of the cluster provided almost 70 percent of the total export volume, selling goods abroad in the amount of 365.7 million rubles”, reminded Alexander Prokhorov. The special economic zone of Moscow is constantly evolving, offering innovative businesses a variety of accommodation formats - from renting finished premises to providing space for the construction of industrial enterprises. “The advantages of the capital’s SEZ attract more and more new investors who undergo a rigorous selection: assessed are the effectiveness of their projects and the relevance of products for the city. Residents, in turn, are exempted from paying property, transport, land tax, customs duties. The income tax rate for them is only 2 percent.
