A manufacturer of medical devices has opened a customs control zone in the Technopolis Moscow SEZ

A resident of the special economic zone (SEZ) Technopolis Moscow, the company GemaTech (a subsidiary of Gemamed), received permission to apply the free customs zone procedure on its territory. This will allow the company to save on customs duties and taxes about 25 percent of the value of the imported equipment, said Alexander Prokhorov, Head of the Department for Investment and Industrial policy of Moscow. "A plant for the production of medical products for stoma patients is being erected on the territory of SEZ within the framework of the offset contract, which the Moscow government signed with Gemamed in 2019. The investor has already invested more than 700 million rubles in the enterprise. Now the SEZ resident will be able to use the free customs zone procedure. As a result, the cost of imported equipment required for the new production will be reduced by a quarter," said Alexander Prokhorov. This is one of the preferences provided by the status of a resident of the capital's special economic zone, explained Gennady Degtev, CEO of SEZ Technopolis Moscow. "The customs control zone will be organized in the production area - it will occupy about 1.9 thousand square meters, which is about 90 percent of the entire area of the enterprise. It will be possible to place and operate imported production equipment without paying extra for importing it into the territory of the Russian Federation. There will be a production hall with two production lines and a warehouse for the finished product," Gennady Degtev added. It is planned to use machines of an improved design, manufactured abroad according to the company's individual drawings. "By the time we reach design capacity in 2023, we will be able to produce more than 300 thousand items per month of 44 items.
